6.3.2. Preventing Water System Pollution
North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) upholds its commitment to environmental stewardship through the implementation of its Sustainability Policy, which directly supports SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.
As outlined in Sustainable Campus Operations (p. 4) – Objective B (p. 5), the policy emphasizes strengthening sustainable waste management across all campuses. This includes reduce-reuse-recycle programs, strict waste segregation practices, and minimizing the use of single-use plastics. These measures are designed to cut down the volume of waste sent to landfills and, more importantly, prevent pollution of both air and water systems.

In line with its commitment to student wellness and sustainability, NEMSU–Lianga Campus launched the Water-Share Program, providing free and convenient access to clean drinking water for all students. The initiative also encourages the use of reusable water bottles, helping reduce plastic waste and supporting the university’s environmental sustainability goals. This program demonstrates NEMSU–Lianga’s holistic approach to student well-being by combining health promotion with environmental responsibility.
6.3.4. Water-Conscious Building Standards
As part of its commitment to sustainability and resource conservation, North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) has integrated water-conscious building standards into its Land Use and Development Plan (LUDIP) for FY2023-2032, which has been approved by the Board of Regents. This plan outlines the incorporation of design and construction standards aimed at minimizing water consumption across the university’s infrastructure.
