In line with its commitment to lifelong learning and providing accessible educational resources, North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) – Cantilan Campus successfully conducted a 3-day Competency Assessment in Food and Beverage Services (FBS NC II) from December 21 to 23, 2024, at the Mini Hotel. This event, designed to assess the practical skills of learners in the hospitality industry, aligned with national standards, offering participants an opportunity to demonstrate their readiness for employment and professional advancement.
The assessment brought together participants from Cantilan National High School and Madrid National High School, who showcased their training and competencies with confidence. This event not only highlighted their dedication but also emphasized the support and guidance provided by their trainers, contributing to their successful preparation for the workforce.

Lianga, Surigao del Sur – November 29, 2024
In a continued effort to promote lifelong learning and provide accessible services to the wider community, the Office of Student Welfare and Development (OSWD) at North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) Lianga hosted a Defensive Driving Seminar and Vehicle Registration Services on November 28-29, 2024, at the NEMSU Lianga Ground Floor. This event was open to all interested individuals, including students, faculty, staff, and members of the local community.
The seminar aimed to equip attendees with essential defensive driving skills, focusing on road safety practices and techniques to reduce traffic accidents. In addition to the informative seminar, LTO Tandag facilitated on-site services for driving license applications and vehicle registrations, complete with mobile medical and emission testing units. This service made it easier for participants to meet their vehicle-related requirements conveniently in one location.
4.3.3. Vocational Training Events (Lifelong Learning)
On August 12, 2024, North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) San Miguel Campus held its inaugural Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Graduation Ceremony at the NEMSU-San Miguel Cultural Center. This event celebrated the achievements of 45 graduates from the Diploma in Agricultural Technology program, aligning with the university's commitment to providing accessible, high-quality vocational education.
On September 4, 2024, North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) College of Teacher Education (CTE) extended its educational outreach by hosting Project LANE (Literacy and Numeracy Enhancement) at Victoria Integrated School. This initiative, aimed at improving foundational literacy and numeracy skills, reflects NEMSU’s commitment to supporting local schools and communities through targeted educational programs.
Project LANE provided an engaging and supportive environment for students, where NEMSU’s faculty and student volunteers led tailored activities designed to strengthen literacy and numeracy skills among the learners. This outreach activity underscores NEMSU's ongoing dedication to contributing to educational development beyond the campus, fostering a culture of collaboration and learning in the community.
4.3.5. Lifelong Learning Access Policy
North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) upholds an inclusive and equitable approach to education through its policy on lifelong learning access, as articulated in the Research, Creative Works, Innovation, and Extension Manual under Article I: Extension Services and Linkages Operations, Section 1. Institutional Thrusts and Priorities (1.6. Continuing Professional Development Program, p. 286).
NEMSU’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program embodies the University’s dedication to ensuring that lifelong learning opportunities are accessible to all individuals, regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, immigration status, or gender. This policy reinforces NEMSU’s vision of advancing technology and innovation for sustainable development and aligns closely with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
The CPD Program is designed to foster professional growth, continuous education, and capacity building among various sectors of the community, including educators, government employees, local professionals, and industry practitioners. Through a wide range of training and learning opportunities—such as research capability enhancement, pedagogical innovation, communication development, and technical upskilling—NEMSU ensures that every participant, regardless of background, can benefit from structured learning experiences that strengthen both individual and institutional performance.
Moreover, the University’s commitment to accessibility is embedded in its operational framework. Training and development programs are implemented across multiple campuses and in partnership with local government units, national agencies, and professional organizations, ensuring broad reach and inclusivity. Facilities are made accessible to persons with disabilities, and learning schedules are designed to accommodate working professionals and marginalized groups.
