SUPPORTING STUDENT SUCCESS THROUGH THE TES PROGRAM

North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting students from the bottom 20% of household income groups through a range of student support programs.
On February 6, 2024, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) awarded the Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART) Program Grant at the NEMSU Gymnasium. This one-time ₱25,000 grant was allocated to qualified indigent students from NEMSU and Saint Theresa College of Tandag (STC) for Academic Year 2023–2024.
Beyond the SMART Program, NEMSU also provides access to other targeted initiatives. These include the Agriculture Competitiveness Enhancement Fund–Grant-in-Aid for Higher Education Program (ACEF-GIAHEP), supporting students in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, veterinary, and related fields, and the Scholarship Program for Coconut Farmers and their Families (CoScho), which assists students from farming communities in pursuing higher education.
NEMSU AS BENEFICIARY OF NATIONAL LAWS ENSURING FREE AND INCLUSIVE ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION
North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) ensures access to higher education for poor students from low or lower-middle income families by being a beneficiary of key national laws. Specifically, the university implements Republic Act (RA) 10931, or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, which provides free tuition and miscellaneous fees to students enrolled in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).
In addition, NEMSU is also covered under Republic Act (RA) 10687, or the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) Act, which consolidates all government-funded student financial assistance programs. This enables the provision of scholarships, grants-in-aid, student loans, and other forms of educational support to ensure that no student is left behind due to financial constraints.
