NEMSU IMPLEMENTS ETHICAL SOURCING POLICY THROUGH NATIONAL PROCUREMENT LAWS
North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) upholds ethical and sustainable sourcing practices by strictly adhering to Republic Act 12009, or the Government Procurement Reform Act. This law ensures that all procurement processes within the university are transparent, competitive, and accountable, covering the acquisition of food, supplies, and services.
In line with the national framework, NEMSU also supports the principle of Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP), as promoted under RA 12009, which emphasizes the integration of environmental and social considerations into government purchasing. By adopting these practices, the university ensures that resources are obtained responsibly, suppliers comply with ethical standards, and procurement decisions contribute to a “Greener Philippines.”

NEMSU’S AUSTERITY POLICY ON PLASTIC MINIMISATION AND SUSTAINABLE ALTERNATIVES
In line with its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices, North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) institutionalized a policy to minimize the use of plastics across all campuses. One of the provisions under the Austerity Measures of NEMSU, as outlined in Memorandum from the President No. 08-003, s. 2024, explicitly mandates the reduction of single-use plastics. The guideline encourages students, faculty, and staff to adopt reusable and eco-friendly alternatives, thereby fostering a culture of sustainability within the university.

NEMSU’S SUSTAINABILITY POLICY ON MINIMISATION OF DISPOSABLE ITEMS
North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) upholds its strong commitment to responsible consumption and production through its Sustainability Policy, which explicitly addresses the minimisation of disposable items. As outlined on Page 5 under Sustainable Campus Operations, Key Objective B, the university prioritises the strengthening of sustainable waste management practices. This includes the promotion of reduce-reuse-recycle programs, proper waste segregation, and the minimisation of single-use plastics and disposable items within the campus community. The policy further emphasizes the establishment of systems to significantly cut waste sent to landfills while preventing pollution of air and water.
