This initiative forms part of Project Component 3: Beach Monitoring on Marine Plastics and Litters under the regional project “Reducing Marine Plastics in the East Asian Seas Region.”
The activity, led by NEMSU faculty, staff, and students, served as a local education and awareness campaign that emphasized the risks and impacts of marine plastic pollution and its relationship to climate change. It also highlighted the importance of mitigation, adaptation, and early response measures to safeguard marine biodiversity and coastal resilience.
Through continuous data monitoring and analysis of marine litter, NEMSU and its partners aim to identify pollution trends, evaluate intervention effectiveness, and promote environmental consciousness among students and local communities. This initiative underscores NEMSU’s strong commitment to advancing climate education, sustainable environmental management, and regional collaboration in support of SDG 13: Climate Action.
